1. Introduction

Swipeversum ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address (when you sign up with email)
• Name (display name, from you or from your sign-in provider)
• Profile photo (optional; from you or from Apple/Google Sign-In)
• Username (chosen by you)
• Bio (optional; text you provide)
• Country (optional; for "Near You" features and profile display)

2.2 Authentication

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and profile picture from those providers. We do not receive or store your Apple or Google password.

2.3 Location Data

• Precise location (GPS): Used only when you enable "Use Location" in Settings for the "Near You" feature. We use approximate location to show content relevant to your area. You can turn this off at any time; we will then use your profile country instead.
• Coarse location (country): Stored in your profile for display and for features that do not use GPS.

2.4 Content You Create

• Votes (swipes): Which entries you vote for in each topic
• Entries: Photos and names of entries you submit for topics
• Comments: Text you post on entries
• Direct messages: Messages you send to other users
• Favorites: Topics you mark as favorites
• Follows: Users you follow
• Reports: When you report content or users (reason and optional description)
• Blocks: When you block other users

2.5 Payment Information (Prize Winners)

If you win a prize and choose to receive a payout, we collect payment information you provide, such as:

• Bank account details (account holder name, account number, routing number, IBAN, SWIFT/BIC)
• PayPal email address
• Currency preference

This information is used solely to process prize payouts. We do not use it for any other purpose.

2.6 Device and Usage Data

• Push notification token: So we can send you push notifications (if you enable them)
• App usage events: Screen views, votes, session start/end, search queries, and similar events to improve the App and understand usage patterns
• Search history: Search queries you enter in the App (stored for analytics)
• Device type and app version: For compatibility and support

2.7 Advertising

The App uses Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the advertising ID) and usage data for ad personalization and measurement. See Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy for details. You can limit ad tracking in your device's privacy settings (e.g., Settings → Privacy → Tracking on iOS).

2.8 Customer Support

When you request account deletion, we collect the reason you select and any optional description you provide. This helps us process your request and improve our service.

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App
• Personalize your experience (e.g., topics, rankings, "Near You")
• Process votes and display rankings
• Send push notifications (if you opt in)
• Send in-app notifications
• Process prize payouts (for winners who provide payment details)
• Respond to support requests
• Enforce our terms and community guidelines
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations
• Analyze usage to improve features and performance

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share data with:

• Other users: Your username, profile photo, and public content (entries, comments) may be visible to other users as part of the App's functionality.
• Service providers: We use third-party services that process your data on our behalf:
  • Supabase – database, authentication, and storage
  • Expo – push notifications and app infrastructure
  • Google – Sign-In and AdMob (advertising)
  • Apple – Sign-In
• Law enforcement: When required by law or to protect our rights, safety, or the rights of others.
• With your consent: When you explicitly agree to sharing.

We do not share your personal information with data brokers.

5. Data Storage and Security

• Data is stored on Supabase servers (hosted in the cloud).
• We use industry-standard security practices.
• Passwords are hashed; we never store plain-text passwords.
• You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data: View and edit your profile in the App.
• Delete your account: Go to Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and associated data.
• Opt out of location: Turn off "Use Location" in Settings.
• Opt out of push notifications: Turn off "Push Notifications" in Settings.
• Opt out of in-app notifications: Turn off "In-App Notifications" in Settings.
• Limit ad tracking: Use your device's privacy settings to limit ad tracking.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained until you delete your account.
• Usage/analytics: Retained for as long as needed to improve the App, typically up to a few years.
• Payment information (payout details): Retained as needed to process payouts and for legal/tax compliance.
• Backups: May persist for a limited time after deletion; we will not use them for active purposes.

8. Children

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. We use services (e.g., Supabase, Google) that may store data in the United States or other jurisdictions. By using the App, you consent to such transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place where required.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
